It's almost time for the Rotary Club of LaGrange's Running For Rotary 5K Road Race. This year's event is scheduled for September 21, 2024. The race will begin at 8:30am at Granger Park, across from LaGrange High School in LaGrange. We would be happy to have you join us!
This is an AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifier event. This is the second year the club is sponsoring a 5K to benefit local literacy and other causes. The race was started last year as a part of our 100th Anniversary. Race co-chairs Scott Landa (left) and John Harrell (right) worked tirelessly to put on a great event in 2023 and they are working hard to make sure this year's event is a success.
GA. Co-chair John Harrell said the 2023 5K raised $10,000 that could be given to local literacy efforts. John announced recipients of grants from the $10,000 that was raised from the 100th Anniversary 5K Roadrace. Gail Gordon with Success by Six. Ann Plagens with Literacy Volunteers of Troup County. Diane Harrell with Certified Literate Community Program. Kim Myers with Get Troup Reading, and West Georgia STAR with Sabrina Allen. Each organization was approved for a $2,000 grant.
The Rotary Club of LaGrange is hoping to exceed last year's total and support even more literacy in our local community.
