Monday, March 2nd, at 12:15, the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs will be hosting Janice Alexander, Outreach Manager for the Georgia Department of Human Services Office of Legislative Affairs and Outreach as our guest speaker.
Ms. Alexander oversees the Department's outreach efforts to educate the community about the Department's programs and services and its customers' needs and to build partnerships with faith, nonprofit, education, social-civic and corporate organizations that aid Georgia's vulnerable children, adults and families.
Prior to serving as the manager of Outreach, Janice held various roles with the Department and was a Strategic Planner for the Georgia Merit System.
Before starting a career in government, she held several leadership positions with the AARP, including AARP's State and Community Representative where she was tasked with covering several states in the southeastern region of the country, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Ms. Alexander also served as AARP's State Director for Kentucky, South Carolina and West Virginia.
Ms. Alexander holds a Bachelor of Social Services from North Carolina A&T State University and a Master of Social Work, with a concentration in Policy, Planning and Administration from the University of Illinois.
She is passionate about helping the community and welcomes the opportunity for collaborative problem solving.
