Jim Thomas - Alliance for Integrity

Retired trial lawyer and law firm partner, Jim Thomas, resides in Atlanta. He was educated at The University of Georgia, Emory University Law School, and Harvard University. Upon retirement he founded Alliance for Integrity, LLC. Its objective is to promote performance with integrity--- in professional, business, and organizational life. On that subject, he is author of two informative books, published articles, and a collection of newspaper essays. Across Georgia and beyond, he has appeared as guest speaker at Rotary Clubs, professional organizations, academic societies, and atcongregations.He is the father of three daughters and is a member of The Rotary Club of Mid-Town Atlanta.

Larry Williams of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) presented highlights from Georgia's technology industry.

On August 5th 2019 Larry Williams of the Technology Association of Georgia visited the Sandy Springs Rotary Club. Mr. Williams presented some of the achievements and challenges facing the Georgia’s technology community. He pointed them out in Key Findings executive summary report.

Key finding 1: Technology wages continue to increase. Continuing increases in wages has added $.65B to the state’s economy.

Key finding 2: Georgia ranks #10 in technology employment nationally. GA continues to be one of the nations top 15 technology markets.

Key finding 3: Software and IT services grow significantly. In addition healthcare and communications continue to see strong growth as well.

Key finding 4: Technology tends to clusters in key markets and regions. Atlanta represents 66% of the overall GA technology employment.

Key finding 5: Second highest number of deals. Georgia’s total number of invested capital in 2018 was $2.33 billion.

Key finding 6: Optimistic capital outlook. Technology decision makers remain bullish on Georgia’s ability to raise capital.

Key finding 7: Technology innovation focuses for 2018 are centered on security, big data and artificial intelligence.

Key finding 8: Georgia is poised to be a center for innovation and is improving each year.

Key finding 9: Georgia continues to develop its core strengths, favorable cost of living, major airport, and amazing colleges and universities.

Key finding 10: Satisfaction with Georgia is increasing, indicating a positive momentum in cultivating it’s technology culture.

The Rotary club of Sandy Springs would thank Mr. Williams for joining us and showing that the technology industry in Georgia is alive and well.

Still Time to Register

There is still time to register for RLI in Peachtree City

The Rotary Club of Peachtree City will host Rotary Leadership Institute on August 17, 2019, at Eaton’s Cooper Lighting, 1121 Highway 74 South, Peachtree City, Georgia. Parts 1, 2, 3 and Grad Course Transforming Your Rotary Club will be held. Registration and course information may be found at www.rlitraining.org. Cost is $100.00, and includes course materials, breakfast, lunch and facilities. Registration will be open through August 7, 2019.

RLI is a great place for newly inducted Rotarians to quickly learn about the “Object of Rotary”. Club Officers can build on their Rotary Knowledge to enhance their club experience. Club Presidents can expand on the skills gained at their President Elect Training Seminar. Long time Rotarians can re-kindle the old Rotary flame, and at the same time share their experiences with the other participants.
