Welcome to the Sandy Springs Rotary Club

Welcome Sandy Springs Rotarians to the new Rotary year. It will be hard to top last year but we'll do it with your help & support. Kudos to past president Nancy Schroeder and PDG Jim Squire for your service and helping the club receive many awards at the District Celebration including our second "Club of the Decade" designation.

Some changes are being made in our club's meeting program to make it more varied & interesting. We will be adding the Sandy Springs Business Spotlight, a third raffle drawing, and wine one meeting a month. Members are now asked to come a little earlier as lunch will begin at noon with the program to start promptly at 12:15. Along with our traditional club events & projects we'll have a couple more service projects/media events, membership events (Rotary Pizza Night at Pontoon) and different Family of Rotary social events. I look forward to engaging with you to make it a exciting year.

Visitors are welcome to experience the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs' hospitality and energy. Meetings are typically the 1st, 2nd & 4th Mondays. Past Program
Audra Pittman, VP Savannah College of Arts & Design Shared News From A Growing College

On Monday March 28th Dr. Audra Pittman, Vice President with SCAD, Savannah College of Arts and Design spoke to our club.

The SCAD main campus is obviously in Savannah but also has campuses in Atlanta and Lacoste, France. The student count in Savannah is around 10,000 and the count in Atlanta is around 2800 although due to COVIT they only currently have 200 students on the Atlanta campus. SCAD is constantly approached by other major cities to open a campus.

SCAD offers over 100 degree programs. They include four year degree programs as well as Masters and other Graduate degrees. The school works closely with major employers such as Coca Cola, Google, Facebook and Blackrock to review their degree programs and to insure they are graduating students suitable for a career.

They also have created relationships with these employers to create opportunity for internships and permanent positions after graduation. SCAD has a 99% employment rate within one year of graduation. The school is relatively young having only being in existence for 40 years, but its impact is substantial. In 2017 the impact of the economy was $122.6Mil and 521 jobs. In 2019 the impact was $155.7Mil and 746 jobs. SCAD generated $6.5Mil in tax revenue last year.
