Welcome to the Sandy Springs Rotary Club

Welcome Sandy Springs Rotarians to the new Rotary year. It will be hard to top last year but we'll do it with your help & support. Kudos to past president Nancy Schroeder and PDG Jim Squire for your service and helping the club receive many awards at the District Celebration including our second "Club of the Decade" designation.

Some changes are being made in our club's meeting program to make it more varied & interesting. We will be adding the Sandy Springs Business Spotlight, a third raffle drawing, and wine one meeting a month. Members are now asked to come a little earlier as lunch will begin at noon with the program to start promptly at 12:15. Along with our traditional club events & projects we'll have a couple more service projects/media events, membership events (Rotary Pizza Night at Pontoon) and different Family of Rotary social events. I look forward to engaging with you to make it a exciting year.

Visitors are welcome to experience the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs' hospitality and energy. Meetings are typically the 1st, 2nd & 4th Mondays. Lunch is served at noon and the 1 hour program begins at 12:15. Hilton Perimeter Suites, 6120 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Reserve a spot by going to our website at www.sandyspringsrotary.org. Join your fellow professionals, community and business leaders, and learn how Rotary can benefit your future. Upcoming Program
Kit Cummings, Teaching with Laughter, Goosebumps and Tears

Please join the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs in welcoming an award winning author and teacher, Kit Cummings to the podium on Monday, July 20th at 12:15.

Please note that this meeting will be on July 20th.

Award-Winning Author and Teacher Born and raised in Atlanta, Kit earned a BBA in Marketing from the Terry School of Business at the University of Georgia, and he also holds a Master of Theology. Kit founded Power of Peace Productions, Inc. and brings his experience working in some of the most dangerous areas in the world to inspire change in prisons, schools, and the faith-based community-and he does it with high energy and laughter as the catalyst. Kit has challenged people to aim higher in corporations, athletics, addiction and recovery, churches, prisons, and more. He has journeyed on tours through Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America, and has negotiated peace between some of the most notorious gangs inside the U.S. prison system. Kit has spoken about his powerful peace projects at the Gandhi Global Peace Summit in Durban, South Africa, and he's planted seeds of peace all around the world. Recently Kit has taken his Forty Days to Freedom program into Cartel-controlled La Mesa prison to work with prisoners, as well as addicts and at-risk youth in some of the toughest areas of Tijuana. Kit has authored four books, including the award-winning Peace Behind the Wire, a Non-Violent Resolution, and he also launched Power of Peace Radio. Kit's new release Protect the Dream takes young people on a forty-day journey of character and leadership development designed to teach kids to dream big dreams and protect those dreams at all costs. The Power of Peace Project raises up much-needed positive role models in our schools and communities. What's next? Kit has now launched his POPP Community Peace Initiative in Selma Alabama, and that work is the subject of his next book. So, the question is: are you ready for the Power of Peace?

Mr. Cummings is easy to find on the web. Here is one link you may want to visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNls5Um21p4
