PRESIDENT'S CORNER
President Lisa Stueve's Welcome Message

Rotary International is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs meets most Mondays at the Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Suites at 12:15 PM. The lunch program includes club business and also hosts guest speakers - business professionals, elected officials, non-profit leaders and others from the Sandy Springs area.

We’re always looking for ways to make an impact in the community; our club members are actively engaged with senior and youth programs that support leadership development and student scholarship. While our motto and most important feature of Rotary International is “Service Above Self,” we also work together in fellowship as we enjoy great camaraderie. Like us on Facebook Sandy Springs' Facebook Page to keep up to date on our club's activities!

I hope you will enjoy our weekly newsletter and I invite you to join us for lunch soon!

On Monday, November 21, 2016, Georgia Senator Hunter Hill will speak to the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs about the legislative picture in Georgia. From the state website, here is Senator Hill's biography:

State Senator Hunter Hill, a Republican, was elected to the State Senate for Georgia’s 6th District in 2012. Sen. Hill represents portions of Cobb and Fulton counties. In 2014, he was elected Majority Caucus Vice-Chairman by his colleagues. Sen. He is a member of Appropriations (Vice-Chairman of the Public Safety Subcommittee), Judiciary Non-Civil, and Reapportionment and Redistricting committees. Sen. Hill is also an Ex-Officio of the Retirement and Rules committees. Sen. Hill graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Management and Civil Engineering, before joining the United States Army. He went on to graduate from the Airborne, the Air Assault, and the US Army Ranger Schools. In June 2001, Hunter took command of a rifle platoon with the 101st Airborne Division, which he led into battle in Afghanistan in 2002. Sen. Hill subsequently led another platoon into battle in Iraq in 2003, and he commanded three different teams on other deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to his combat roles, he also served as a General’s Aide in Iraq, and earned two Bronze Stars, the Meritorious Service Medal and two Army Commendation Medals. After leaving the Army as a Captain, he began his business career in real estate as a project manager. He went on to use his leadership skills in the security industry, and is currently in the field of personal and leadership development. Sen.
