December 7th 2020, the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs will be welcoming the founder and president of the Interact Club at King’s Ridge Christian School, Cambri Driskell.
Cambri has grew up in Alpharetta, GA. She has attended King's Ridge Christian School since kindergarten. Throughout high school, she was involved in many organizations both inside and outside of the classroom. Activities such as peer tutoring, handling leading rolls in honor societies, the Varsity Cheerleading and Swim team, the Honor Council's Vice President, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes' Publicity Committee Head meant that her free time was scarce.
Through her commitment to the Interact Club as its president and founder, she enjoyed finding her lane in service to the community alongside other students, specifically through three Moonlight Sonatas and the school’s human trafficking awareness initiative.
In the larger community, being the co-leader of a youth group at her church, an intern for local and state political campaigns, a creative writer for her father’s addiction recovery ministry, Vision Warriors, and a certified yoga instructor, Cambri has demonstrated both service and leadership which she considers to be vital components of her experience.
Her professional work experiences include being a youth umpire and member of the Interviewing Board for Hopewell Youth Association, a receptionist for Alpharetta Service Center and Auto, and an independent Biology tutor.
Cambri will be attending Vanderbilt University in the coming year where she will be studying human organization and development with an international focus and public policy as well as cheering sidelines for football and basketball. After her studies at Vanderbilt, she plans to attend law school, practice in the non-profit field hopefully on a global level and participate in some arena of public service to give back to my community.
The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs invites you all to attend December 7th and give Cambri Driskell a warm Rotary welcome.
This meeting can be attended in-person or online.
On November 16, Edward Bailey spoke to our club about his nonprofit organization, No Longer Bound, a program to help men break addiction.
He started by introducing Thatcher Helton. Thatcher shared his story of addiction and how he conquered it with the help of No Longer Bound.
No Longer Bound (NLB) is an adult, male only facility with a minimum age of 18. The average age is around 45 but has dropped recently because of the increase in opioid and heroin addiction. The No Longer Bound program is a twelve-month residential treatment and education program. The program is much longer than most addiction treatment centers which are typically 2 to 3 weeks. NLB boast a success ratio which is also much higher than others because keeping someone in treatment for a year allows time to change their behavior.
NLB residential sites are in Alpharetta just off GA400 and have several acres. They recently opened a new building called Hope House which has 32 beds. All the beds were graciously donated by Havertys Furniture.
NLB is a faith-based treatment plan. They strive to teach their patients to find connection with themselves. They also teach career skills to their patients. Because of the work they do while in treatment they help to pay for part of their treatment. Vocational training is an important part of the treatment.
No Longer Bound’s mission is to rescue, regenerate and reconcile.
