On Monday June 1st The Rotary of Sandy Springs invited Fulton County’s Director of Senior Services, Ladisa Onyiliogwu to share her thoughts and plans for guiding her department through this COVID-19 pandemic.
She and her team members share a common bond in providing some of the most important programs that support older adults in Fulton county. The department of Senior Services has a mission to improve the quality of life for adults age 55 and above. They support healthy aging, setting goals and offer programs for eligible residents to safely age in place. Though recent events have been challenging, her team has been able to continually provide transportation services to seniors with medical needs and to provide homebound seniors with case management and services like personal care, home-maker, and home delivered meals.
While her bond with her team is strong, Ladisa noted that our strongest common bond is Service. The Rotary moto of Service Above Self resonated with her. She says it is a great illustration of what innumerable Americans are doing in response to COVID-19. Ladisa goes on to say, we will forge ahead and face each new day with service in mind. Service is at our core. Service is our common bond and service will be the catalyst that can fill our hearts to love more, give more and to continue positively impacting the lives of seniors in Fulton county.
Our core values of accountability, teamwork and cooperation, transformers of government and fiscal stewardship provide the foundation to carry on through these tumultuous times.
The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs would like to thank Ladisa Onyiliogwu for all the work she does for our community and for taking a moment to speak to us.
