Please visit us August 6th at 12:15 to have an opportunity to meet him, listen to his ideas and ask questions
Monday, July 30th, District Governor Court Dowis gave us a three point speech which included many tips for keeping our club lively and growing. You had to be there to get all the information, but here are the Cliffsnotes:
Point 1: Membership - techniques to recruit new members.
Point 2: Foundation - How the foundation gives back to each district and all the benefits.
Point 3: FUN: Court implored us to seek our passion and apply it to our work to promote the Rotary Club. He explained that our club will become more exciting and attractive to others when they see our passion.

Last Monday (July 30th, 2018) we had the pleasure of inducting a new member to our club.
Leon Pomerance (sponsored by Gene Jordan) is an attorney dealing with estates, wills, and charitable planning AND before that he was an attorney with the U.S. Justice Department. An informal interview and more information about Leon will be in our next newsletter.

Congratulations and thank you for signing up and committing with the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs!
Please give him a warm welcome and introduce yourselves.
Please welcome Henrique Shilvino Rivelli. Henrique is 15 years old and he is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lima Duarte in District 4580, Brazil.
(His name is pronounced "en-ree-kay". The letter "H" is silient in Portuquese).
Here is a Google maps link to the Brazilian city of Lima Duarte
Henrique is seen here on the left with our always friendly Rotarian Nathan Kongthum snapping the selfie.
"Rotary mean's business. We are bringing back business networking." These lines were reiterated by Fred & Court at Monday's meeting.
To kick-off the initiative we invited club member and 1990-1991 District Governor Ralph Thurmond to give us his elevator speech.
Court asked the we save the date for the District 6900 Conference, so put it on the calendar.
Now that you've marked the date, let's all circle back later to confirm the dates because the dates on the flyer are different from the dates on the web site.

On August 13th, the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs will be welcoming Renay Blumenthal as our guest speaker.
Here is her bio as it ripped from her LinkedIn Page.
In a career spanning nearly 30 years, Renay has forged a reputation as one of Atlanta's most respected community leaders -- with deep ties to metro Atlanta's civic, business, foundation, and political sectors.
Her career spans a rare mix of both public and private sector experience with over 14 years experience in key leadership roles in state and city government and 15 years private sector experience in strategy, policy development and execution, staff management, finance, budget and external affairs. Proven and experienced problem solver, project manager, communicator and consensus builder known for achieving results.
Prior to being named president of the Grady Health Foundation in September 2013, she served as senior vice president of public policy for the Metro Atlanta Chamber for nearly 10 years where she directed initiatives to strengthen the region and city.
A native Atlantan, Renay is a cum laude graduate of Georgia Tech and has an MBA from Georgia State University. She was named a Georgia Trend “40 under 40” in 2001 and was a member of the Leadership Georgia class in 2000 and Leadership Atlanta class in 2006. She has also been named a “Power Chick” for four years in a row by James Magazine as one of the top Georgia female lobbyists. She was also recognized as a Woman of Achievement by the YWCA in 2009 and received an Impact Leader award by Business to Business magazine in 2010.
Renay currently serves on various boards, including chair of Leadership Atlanta, immediate past chair of the Clean Air Campaign, Georgia Forward and Women’s Forum of Georgia. She and her husband Ned, an attorney, live in Atlanta and have two young children.
Hello fellow Rotarian's.
If anyone has a photo they could send me of Mike Lassiter, or Nesbit Toole, I would really appreciate it. You could even just bring a photo to our next meeting.
Not sure why I am being so dogged about this particular quest, but there are only two missing photos left in our on-line roster. Perhaps the nagging feeling to complete this task is because I'm so very close to 100%. (Like our Polio Cure.)
Thank you!
