Monday, August 15th The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs had the pleasure of hearing Matthew Kallmyer, Director at Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency, speak about who they are, what they do, and how they do it.
Established in 1950 and previously known as Civil Defense Agency, The Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency(AFCEMA) is responsible for activities associated with Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, Resource Management, and Recovery. They also serve as the liaison to external partners at the local, regional, State and Federal level.
The mission statement of AFCEMA is to enhance the preparedness and resiliency of our communities by coordinating and integrating the activities necessary to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural or man-made disasters.
AFCEMA provided much needed help to the community throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic including:

The Rotary Club of Sandy Spring will not have a lunch meeting on Monday, August 22nd. However, we will be meeting for Dinner on August 22th to have a Family of Rotary event at El Azteca on Roswell Road at 6pm.
Bring your family and join us for fun, fellowship, and some of the best Mexican food Sandy Springs has to offer at El Alzteca tomorrow evening.
El Azteca is located at 5925 Roswell Rd, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 in front of the Lowes.
Calling all Volunteeers! Do you want to get involved with a good cause for the Sandy Springs community? Sandy Springs Education Force has been at the forefront of supporting the educational successes of financially vulnerable students in Sandy Springs for over a decade. They are looking for volunteers to help out at their Lightening Run 5k/10k Road race the morning of Saturday, October 22nd.
