PRESIDENT'S CORNER
Welcome to the Sandy Springs Rotary Club

Welcome Sandy Springs Rotarians, friends and guests.

So far, this Rotary year has been challenging coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. We thank all who have been able to attend meetings in person and on Zoom. Although our service projects have been limited by the virus we have been able to help school children needing distance learning and for those in our community needing food. We are also doing great with our medical recycling program benefiting seniors. I thank our club members and officers in working hard to hopefully have our club once again achieve “Club of the Year” status.

Visitors are welcome to experience the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs' hospitality and energy. Meetings are typically the 1st, 2nd & 4th Mondays. Lunch is served at noon and the 1 hour program begins at 12:15. Hilton Perimeter Suites, 6120 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.

Reserve a spot by going to our website at www.sandyspringsrotary.org. Join your fellow professionals, community and business leaders, and learn how Rotary can benefit your future. Experience Rotary Making Things Happen in Sandy Springs!

Upcoming Program
Dalene Kelsey, Founder Buckhead Speech Specialists

Kelsey Dalene is a licensed speech-language pathologist, and the owner of Buckhead Speech Specialists. She founded Buckhead Speech Specialists in 2017 with the goal of providing patients with exceptional therapy services, while involving families every step of the way. She ensures that each client is given the amount of time and attention they deserve. Her practice has grown from a part-time job, to now employing 6 speech-language pathologists and one tutor for special needs children. Kelsey has lived in Atlanta her whole life. She received her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia in 2012. In 2014, she graduated from Georgia State University with a master’s degree in Communication Disorders.

Since graduating from Georgia State, Kelsey has practiced early intervention techniques in the special need’s preschool setting, as well as worked in the private practice setting.

Kelsey is Hanen Certified in It Takes Two to Talk, a program that is designed specifically for parents of young children (birth to 5 years of age) who have been identified as having a language delay.

When she is not working, Kelsey enjoys running, doing yoga, and spending time with her husband and their son, Hudson.

Past Program
Jennifer Barnes, Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Our program this past Monday, June 7, was presented by Jennifer Barnes, co-founder of Solidarity Sandy Springs. Their mission is to make sure that no residents in Sandy Springs go hungry. They are a food pantry located in Sandy Springs near I285 and Roswell Rd.

Solidarity Sandy Springs has only been in existence for a couple of years and has already served over 26,000 households. They serve between 100 and 200 households every day.

The community they serve live primarily in the Sandy Springs neighborhoods that have children at Lake Forrest Elementary School and High Point Elementary School. Most of these children are on the subsidized or free lunch programs at these school. Solidarity does not ask for or require any paperwork or documentation to receive food.

Jennifer invites us to come take a tour through the Pantry. Pantry days are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (9-12) plus Tuesday afternoon from 5pm to 7pm. Restock days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

They are truly neighbors helping neighbors.
