Welcome to the Sandy Springs Rotary Club

Welcome Sandy Springs Rotarians, friends and guests.

So far, this Rotary year has been challenging coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. We thank all who have been able to attend meetings in person and on Zoom. Although our service projects have been limited by the virus we have been able to help school children needing distance learning and for those in our community needing food. We are also doing great with our medical recycling program benefiting seniors. I thank our club members and officers in working hard to hopefully have our club once again achieve “Club of the Year” status.

Visitors are welcome to experience the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs' hospitality and energy. Meetings are typically the 1st, 2nd & 4th Mondays. Lunch is served at noon and the 1 hour program begins at 12:15. Hilton Perimeter Suites, 6120 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.

Harold Earls, Focusing on Guarding Freedoms and Liberties for All

Harold Earls is a former Airborne Ranger qualified Captain that served as the Commander of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Prior to that, he led the first Army team and a combat wounded amputee to the summit of Mount Everest. Harold was an All American Captain of the West Point Baseball team, recipient of the George Smythe Leadership Award and twice named ABC News Person of the week.

Most recently, he wrote a book, alongside his wife Rachel, titled: A Higher calling: which has gone on to become a USA Today National Bestseller. His family has a popular youtube channel, Earls Family Vlogs, with more than a million followers across multiple platforms, where they share their daily life and faith as a family. He is a 9th generation Georgian and grew up in Roswell and Forsyth county.

Harold had the honor of serving in the very heart and soul of this country, seeing daily it’s very best, while witnessing elected officials just across the Potomac deface the very values the heroes he was tasked to guard died defending. He would see WWII vets proudly rise from their wheelchair with all their might to salute the Unknowns, as taps echoed across row upon row of Arlington’s hills. All the while, he’d see politicians applaud athletes kneeling, as our national anthem echoed across row upon row of America’s stadiums. Enough is enough. Harold’s post as a Sentinel is over, but his mission is not. He now has turned his focus on building a movement to continue guarding the freedoms and liberties that so many have died defending.

Past Program
Lynn Gendusa, Every Day Reveals a New Story

April 12, 2021

This past Monday our program was presented by Lynn Walker Gendusa. Lynn is a writer and columnist. After spending forty-three years as an interior designer, she was ready to retire to a hammock somewhere overlooking the blue ocean. Except God had other plans. Within a few weeks of putting down her tape measure, she picked up a pen. Her first story was published in the LaGrange Daily News in LaGrange, GA, her former hometown. Within a few more weeks she became a weekly columnist for the paper, writing essays about faith, America, family, friends, depression, joy, holidays and much more. Her work soon spread across the country to other publications that loved her relatable down-home stories which are laced with inspiration as well as frankness.

Lynn compiled many of her columns into her first book, "It's all Write with ME! Essays from my heart". (link provided below) Her readers have encouraged her to continue writing and she is currently penning a second book.

Her mission is to always inspire and remind us of life’s abundant blessings.

She believes, “Every day reveals a new story, a new bend in the road, and a clearer understanding of our journey.”
