On 10-17-2016, Ken Kirk, Author, Messages in Handlebars" spoke to the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs about the French Resistance and Jean-Jacques Auduc who, along with his family, undermined the Nazis in France as much as possible as members of the French Resistance.
On Monday, October 24, 2016, at 12:15 p.m., the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs honored the recipients of the 2016 City of Sandy Springs’ Public Safety Awards during a special luncheon program at the Hilton Perimeter Suites, 6120 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
Each year, the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs hosts the awards luncheon to recognize select members of the City of Sandy Springs Public Safety Team for their outstanding contributions to the people and City of Sandy Springs. The Sandy Springs’ Public Safety Team consists of all Fire, EMS, and Police employees. Recipients are chosen by their own public safety departments. 2016 recipients are:

Claudette Black, 2016 Civilian Employee of the Year, Sandy Springs Police Department
Officer Tim Burell, 2016 Police Officer of the Year, Sandy Springs Police Department
Officer Nick Trujillo, 2016 Police Officer of the Year, Sandy Springs Police Department
Sergeant Shane Barkley, 2016 Police Officer Supervisor of the Year, Sandy Springs Police Department

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs arranges dinners for City of Sandy Springs' EMS, Fire and Police professionals during the Annual Public Service Dinners. An additional luncheon on October 26th will be added at the City of Sandy Springs Police Headquarters so that more officers can be included in the event. The purpose of the annual Public Service Dinners is to recognize and show the community's appreciation for Fire, Police and EMS employees. Dinners are held at the Sandy Springs Firehouse #2 which is located at the corner of Johnson Ferry and Sandy Springs Circle.
Dinners are donated by local area restaurant and caterers.

Members of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs met at Emidio's in Sandy Springs for happy hour and dinner. Many thanks to Owner/Chef Joe Emidio Sapeta and his family for their support of many community events in Sandy Springs, including the Rotary Has Heart Senior Prom last February. Members of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs and the North Atlanta Rotaract Club participated during Saturday, October 15, 2016's NFServes (North Fulton Serves). Locations were Lake Forest Elementary School and the Sandy Springs Library.
