Peter Kyle - Rotary International Director for Zones 23 & 24 (Screen capture from Zoom meeting)
Our program this past Monday, May 17, was presented by Peter Kyle, RI Director for Zones 23 & 24. He described the new Rotary initiative entitled “Youth Peace in Action” or YPA. Peace and conflict prevention and resolution is one of Rotary International’s areas of focus. A Rotary goal is to support peace building in our communities. Rotary Zones 33 and 34 will soon launch the largest local peace building initiative in the history of Rotary International. Youth & Peace in Action: Engaging Young Community Peace Builders. With support from 22 Districts in Rotary Zones 33 & 34, we are committing $500,000 to provide peace education, training and project mentoring in collaboration with established peace building partners. The focus is high school students, teachers and youth service club members in communities we serve.
The goal is to serve and educate 875 schools/service organizations, 500 teachers, 35,000 students, 500 peace projects and 10,000 attendees in the United Celebration.
Monday, May 23 The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs will be gathering at the Sandy Springs Diner. Show up at 6:00 for free hors d'oeuvre then stay for dinner.
Friends and family are welcome.
The Sandy Springs Diner is located at 8612 Roswell Rd. Sandy Springs, GA 30350. (770)594-9272
